- DRAFT : Hello everyone, my name is Solène and I am your MP. I have the honor to introduce myself as your first Native American MP.Yes I am an aboriginal. And like many Aborigines, I lived in poverty. I lived in a small run-down house with my five cousins. But I didn’t get discouraged, I worked hard and here I am an MP. My people have suffered a lot. It all started when Christopher Columbus discovered our lands. They started by killing us and giving us their diseases. We were colonized and deported like animals. After that they took our children and put them in residential schools. Many were abused and killed. They imposed a religion on them. Today, people become alcoholics and end up in misery. Young aborigines are embarrassed of their origins and feel inferior. My intention is to honour my ancestors. I will do everything I can to ensure that my people are not victimized by evil. I will find them schools and jobs. I want to recover our lost culture. I want my nation back! Thank you for listening to me. I will do my best.
